Accedian Rolls Out New Release of Network Performance Tool

The fourth release of VisionMETRIX is now available from Accedian.

VisionMETRIX 4.0 is a network performance monitoring and reporting web portal for service providers and their customers. It can be used to access business services and Ethernet-based mobile backhaul performance. And it connects directly to SDN controllers, so it can provide updates by the second.

Operators can use VisionMETRIX to examine different domains, circuits, and layers across networks, simultaneously; quickly identify and isolate the location of a problem and confirm which customer(s) it affects; and differentiate between network and service impairments using visual correlation. Customers can use VisionMETRIX to analyze their own data and measure performance according to selected metrics; and to customize information in real time, using the portal's dashboard.

"It's critical that customer portals provide a real-time view for customers, and that it accurately reflects any changes in the network and how the customer is using it, dynamically and as it happens," said Scott Ulsaker, inside plant division manager at Pioneer Telephone (News - Alert) Cooperative.

Accedian specializes in real-time performance results collection and reporting, service activation testing, and workflow automation. Telefonica (News - Alert) is among the service providers leveraging the Accedian technology. The carrier uses the Accedian solution to manage quality of service on its backhaul and metro networks for its mobile business.

Last year around this time Accedian came out with a network functions virtualization solution that uses what the company called bite-sized programmable hardware modules. That solution, SkyLIGHT VCX, delivers the performance of appliances within hardware modules that are up to 70 percent less expensive, use 90 percent less power, and don’t take up valuable real estate at the customer premises. SkyLIGHT VCX can be used for bandwidth metering, bandwidth regulation and policy enforcement, multi-connection performance monitoring, real-time service level agreement reporting, service activation testing, and service quality analytics for hybrid cloud connection applications.
