Digital transformation is happening in full force. And that means businesses are increasingly reliant on connected applications. They employ these applications to serve customers and to otherwise keep business humming. And as applications become central to doing business, so does application performance.

The importance of application performance was a central theme of Chandramouli Radhakrishnan’s keynote speech last week at SD-WAN Expo 2018. The event took place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, which was collocated with ITEXPO.

Radhakrishnan is the senior director of product management at Aryaka (News - Alert). During his speech “Is SD-WAN Ready for Global Deployments?” he discussed key differences between SD-WAN solutions.

“Global enterprises are actively looking for SD-WAN solutions that provide faster network deployments and improve performance for cloud/SaaS (News - Alert) applications,” Radhakrishnan said.

Nearly 800 global enterprises rely on Aryaka Global SD-WAN technology. This solution delivers fast and consistent application performance from anywhere in the world. And it can be deployed in days as opposed to months.

Aryaka last month announced $45 million in new funding from Deutsche Telekom (News - Alert) Capital Partners and Third Point Ventures. The Series D money brings Aryaka’s total funding to $120 million.

“We really didn’t need this funding,” said Aryaka CMO Gary Sevounts commented at the time. “We were on the path to profitability anyway.”

The company plans to be profitable this year and hopes to issue an IPO next year, he said. Aryaka plans to use the money on engineering, marketing, and sales in an effort to expand its global reach, noted Sevounts.

In other recent news from Aryaka, the company has published the State of SD-WAN Connectivity report. A key finding in the report is that most companies using a global SD-WAN based on a cloud-native private network see an average of four times better application performance compared to those using Internet-based SD-WANs, and two-and-one-half times less variation in response time.
