AT&T announced Tuesday it was picked by Clarian Health Partners to provide the medical group with an Internet Protocol Telephony (IPT) system.
The agreement calls for AT&T to install the IPT system in Clarian's newest location to be opened this fall, the Clarian North Medical Center. The system will interconnect fourteen Clarian health care locations within the Indianapolis area.
The network will integrate the medical institution's new and legacy communications platforms at its main hospitals, statewide affiliates and medical centers. That way, AT&T will enable Clarian to link its physicians’ offices and also integrate voicemail, instant messaging (IM) and live phone calls on an IP-based telephone system.
"IPT provides dramatic network efficiencies and enables a host of applications to better serve our patients, physicians and staff," said Rich Johnson, Chief Information Officer, Clarian Health Partners. "Clarian now has a state-of the-art network that can deliver instant access to a patient's complete, centralized electronic medical records, including alerts to current medical conditions and prescriptions."
AT&T made news last month when it announced it added yet another IP VPN contract to its expanding portfolio. The telecom giant inked a three-year, $1.5 million networking contract from Thomas & King Inc., a franchisee of more than 85 Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar and Johnny Carino's restaurants in Kentucky, Ohio and Arizona.
The deal called for AT&T to connect Thomas & King's headquarters and 85-plus restaurants through an IP VPN with increased bandwidth and faster speeds. The use of Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology would allow the system to add VoIP functionality with priority queuing for business applications.
AT&T scored multiple voice and data network deals last month. Indeed, the telecom giant announced IP VPN deployment deals with ResMAE Mortgage Corp., Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc., Inventec Corp., Air Products and Chemicals Inc., and Atrium Companies Inc.
