Blue Wireless & Data Announces Management Change

Texas-based broadband service provider Blue Wireless & Data, Inc. announced on Tuesday that Kit Chambers has stepped down as the company's CEO; he will assume the title of president and will remain on the company's board of directors.

The company further announced that Scott Sewell is the new CEO and has been elected a director of the company.

"Scott Sewell has enormous experience in running various high-tech companies and has particular expertise in marketing and sales," Chambers said in a prepared statement.  "He also has run our newly acquired SPSC Holding Company, a technical service entity that fits nicely with our existing services offering.  I believe this will be a positive change for the Company and I plan on remaining very involved through this transition."

Sewell's ascension to the CEO position comes at a time when Blue Wireless & Data recorded a net loss of $2.9 million in the nine months ended June 30, 2005.

Additionally, the company's management appears be in a continual state of flux.  Today's announcement marks the second such shakeup at the company's top position in just five months.  Dennis McClaughlin stepped down as Blue Wireless & Data's CEO in April; two directors resigned from their posts in May.

Chambers succeeded McClaughlin, though Chambers told TMCnet in a telephone interview that he merely filled in as the company's CEO on an interim basis.

Chambers said that the company now has the right man for the job.

"I have watched Blue Wireless over the past several months and I believe that we have the opportunity to bring in new sales efforts to increase certain revenue-generating aspects of the Company, particularly sales of our services to business customers," Sewell said in a prepared statement.

Additionally, Chambers said that Blue Wireless is looking to "grow the network rather quickly through acquisition."

Indeed, Blue Wireless and Data has been on a buying spree since December 2004, acquiring Texas-based ISPs Panaband and Gerdes Web Services, as well as purchasing the assets of GlobalCon, Inc. and Palancar Broadband.

Chambers also said that the company will roll out its VoIP service to its customer base in the upcoming days.
