TranSwitch Unveils Single-Chip Solution for Implementing CESTMCnet Contributing Editor TranSwitch Corporation, a provider of carrier-class semiconductor solutions for voice, data and video communications, has announced PacketTrunk-4 Plus, a single-chip solution for implementing standards-compliant circuit emulation service (CES) interfaces and systems. PacketTrunk-4 Plus allows the implementation of multi-port CES gateway functionality with enhanced cost/performance for a variety of carrier and enterprise applications across the network. It incorporates “synchronization interface” quality clock recovery, encapsulation , jitter compensation, Layer 2/3/4 QoS support and support for transport of structured and unstructured TDM signals over a PSN. The device serves as a building block for CES over IP, MPLS and switched Ethernet networks. Key applications include:
“TranSwitch sees enormous potential in developing solutions for the evolutionary convergence of communications networks,” said Brian Stroehlein, product marketing manager for TranSwitch in a press release. “PacketTrunk-4 Plus is a key addition to our portfolio of convergence products for access and edge networks in that it enables transparent transport of legacy TDM traffic over IP/MPLS/Ethernet networks with ‘synchronization interface’ quality clock recovery.” PacketTrunk-4 Plus is backward compatible to the first generation PacketTrunk-4 so existing customers will have an easy migration to the new device.
