Seeking to add new voice services and revenue streams, New Hampshire-based CLEC/ISP G4 Communications has deployed CopperCom’s Converged Switching eXchange switch, the companies announced on Tuesday.

Prior to deploying the CSX, G4 Communications provided New Hampshire businesses with Internet access and broadband services, in addition to its four-year-old long distance resale service.

In an effort to increase revenues from its existing subscriber base, and to appeal to new customers, G4 sought to complete its voice offering by launching local telephony services.

Enter CopperCom and its next-generation CSX switching system.

“With CopperCom’s CSX switch, we’re now able to offer our customers a full suite of local voice services,” said G4 CTO Gent Cav in a statement.  “We hope to double the revenues from our current customer base while attracting new subscribers with compelling service bundles.”

According to the statement, G4 will leverage Class 5 features and Class 4 tandem switching capabilities combined in the CopperCom architecture.

G4 started offering its local voice services in the first quarter of 2005, and will transition its long distance service resale model over to offering its own solution via the CSX.

At the end of September, CopperCom announced a comprehensive transition program for CLECs faced with the need to migrate from UNE-P to a facilities–based model.

Be sure to catch the debut of the Service Provider Summit at this fall’s INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & Expo, which runs October 24-27, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, focusing on key issues number portability, ENUM, QoS, next-generation OSS and much more.
