Centerbase Announces Hosted CRM for SMBs

Centerbase Corporation, vendor of the Centerbase 2006 Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, has announced the launch of a web-based CRM product which includes hosting.

According to company officials, the product allows businesses to have their CRM systems “up and running in the shortest possible time while retaining ownership of their system.” In addition, the product can be transferred to a company’s servers with the purchase of a license.

Discussing the initiative, Founder and CEO of Centerbase John Forbes suggested, "When we initially developed Centerbase, we were responding to the need for a complete and affordable CRM product… at the same time, we were contacted by businesses that wanted the features available with Centerbase but with the ease and support that was available in a hosted product.”

The hosted version of the product has no initial setup fee and users do not require a contract.

The company launched their Centerbase 2006 CRM product in late 2005, aimed at the SMB market, touting it as powerful, easy-to-use and affordable, three adjectives aimed straight at the SMB sweet spot.

“When we approached businesses to find out what they needed in a CRM solution, we found that while companies wanted to implement CRM, there were major stumbling blocks,” said John Forbes, CEO and Founder of Centerbase at the time.

Centerbase made their product Internet accessible – “allowing businesses to affordably link their remote sites in a central shared location,” according to company officials. It was designed to be easy to use, keeping the training and setup simple and IT spending at a minimum, another top SMB priority.

Some of the “practical features” the company touts as crucial to the SMB market are contact management, calendaring, task management, sales automation, opportunity management, live dashboards, and help desk.
