Platypus Announces CRM Offering

TMCnet Contributing Editor

Calling it “a new, simple-to-deploy CRM product that delivers a simple but powerful way to drive customer relations and improve profits,” Platypus Systems Pty Ltd has announced the release of BridgeCRM v5, its Customer Relationship Management (CRM) desktop software for individuals to medium sized organizations.

Three guesses which country Platypus hails from. Burundi? No, sorry. Sweden? Nope. One guess left…

The product, according to company officials, provides “all the features to collect and manage information for the purpose of building better relations, thereby increasing profits.”

Platypus claims the features of this product make it useful for “more than just the traditional business users of CRM packages,” since BridgeCRM “benefits anyone who manages information such as individuals, community organizations or clubs.”

BridgeCRM is being marketed at SMBs looking for a multi-user product that can be easily deployed by users with little or no IT knowledge, as keeping system requirements to a minimum and not requiring third party software to be purchased to become fully functional results in a lower cost of ownership.

Because whatever line of work SMBs are in, chances are good they’re not fat enough to have a crackerjack on-site IT department to do things like take care of software issues between sudoku puzzles.

So while providing components expected from a CRM product, the package has been designed with simplicity in mind – simple deployment and simple to use functions. Key standard functions include: Calendar, Companies, Contacts, Internet Favorites, Groups, In/Out Board, Notes and To Do List. Optional functions include Opportunities, Support and Item Tracking.

BridgeCRM is immediately available as a desktop PC version with optional components for specific industries.

For larger businesses, a PDA component and professional version using Microsoft (News - Alert) SQL Server for data storage will be released in the coming months. Platypus Systems officials say they expect new versions to be released annually “and will work closely with end-users to include new features and refinements.”

The product (including a trial version) is available online.

Huh? Oh, Australia.
