Cyberlink and DiBcom Partner on DVB-H Solution for Mobile TV
 TMCnet Contributing Editor
Cyberlink and DiBcom have announced plans to co-develop a Windows Mobile 5.0 and Windows XP DVB-H solution to enable mobile TV reception on PCs and handheld devices. The companies have previously worked together for many years, developing solutions for the DVB-T market.
Cyberlink’s software stack and DiBcom’s hardware/firmware demodulator technology will be combined to create a complete solution for end users. Cyberlink DVB-H application building blocks will be combined with DiBcom integrated DVB-H technology, which was recently introduced in its DIB-7070H chip.
Form factors for the new solution will be available in DVB-H SDIO cards for Windows Mobile 5.0 handheld devices, and later will be available for DVB-H USB sticks for Windows XP-based PCs and UMPCs. A full software solution featuring power management, support for handover and enhanced zapping time will also be available for easy integration.
“Mobile TV is a hot growing trend -- we feel the time is right to provide a complete hardware and software solution for customers in the DVB-H market,” said Alice H. Chang, CyberLink's CEO. “Through our long-term cooperation with leading DVB-H provider DiBcom, we are able to develop CyberLink Mobile TV Solution for our customers.”
“DiBcom and Cyberlink have worked together for many years -- and have similar customers using both company's DVB-T products currently in the market today,” said Yannick Levy DiBcom's CEO. “This co-development effort is a natural next step to jointly develop a DVB-H solution for PDAs and PC-based devices.”
