At the annual 3GSM World Congress last week in Barcelona, Spain Ditech Communications Corporation’s Voice Quality Assurance (VQA) solution was recognized in the “best network quality initiative" category.

The company claims it is due to its innovative network-based approach to solve voice quality impairments faced by mobile carriers utilizing lower bit rate codecs to increase the capacity of their networks

This global telecommunications equipment supplier participated in the 3GSM World Congress along with various GSM equipment providers and faced tough competition from the other applicants. According to the press statement by Ditech, more than 500 applications were received and later narrowed down to a few nominees in each of 18 categories. Ditech was among the top five selected nominees in the Mobile Carriers category

Voice Quality Assurance (VQA) blends Ditech Communications' core competency of hybrid and acoustic echo cancellation with an advanced set of voice quality improvement features to create a clear calling experience for users of any phone or handset in any ambient environment. Integrated into Ditech's voice processor platforms, VQA enables service providers to select the right mix of features to improve, measure, and manage the user's experience of voice quality in their networks.

In a statement to the press, Tim Montgomery, president and CEO of Ditech Communications said the company was very pleased to receive the 3GSM industry acknowledgement.

“This delightful occurrence is only one of the latest developments in our VQA business and reinforces the significant investment that we have made in our voice quality solutions. Voice quality is becoming a widely recognized service differentiator for mobile carriers as the demand for wireless communications grows and our VQA solution provides a distinct competitive advantage by providing a dramatically different voice quality experience to mobile users,” he said.
