Intrado and RedSky to Market Enterprise VoIP E911

TMCnet VoIP Minute Watch Columnist

VoIP E911 technology provider Intrado Inc. announced on Thursday an agreement with RedSky Technologies, a provider of E911 location info management systems, to market VoIP E911 services. Under terms of the agreement, RedSky will market Intrado V9-1-1 for Enterprise to Fortune 500 and mid-cap enterprises.

Intrado introduced the V9-1-1 for Enterprise on Tuesday. The system provides E911 coverage in an IP-based environment. RedSky will use its E911 Manager application to track the physical location of phone users inside and outside the enterprise and provide Location Information Services (LIS) to the Intrado V9-1-1 for Enterprise. With the integration of Intrado V9-1-1 for Enterprise and RedSky's E911 Manager application, employees who are either traveling and using a soft phone to access their company's private network, are telecommuters using company assigned IP phone equipment, or are located in remote locations that are networked to the main site for off net calling, can now gain critical E911 support.

"By combining the two products, enterprise customers will have access to a single-source solution to support both mobile and stationary IP users inside and outside the enterprise," said Tony Maier, RedSky's CEO. "RedSky's E911 Manager can deliver real-time location data which will enable Intrado to route the 9-1-1 call to the local PSAP serving the caller's location."

Intrado's V9-1-1 for Enterprise provides local routing and emergency service response. This will help providers ensure the accuracy of caller and location info, regardless of the complexities found in the enterprise environments, and simplify 9-1-1 deployment.

"Together, Intrado and RedSky can provide enterprises with a comprehensive and cost-effective VoIP E9-1-1 solution that meets their specific operational requirements," said Stephen Meer, Intrado chief technology officer and co-founder. "As IP technology becomes more prevalent in the workplace, we can help enterprise customers address critical employee safety issues."

Intrado made news yesterday when it announced a similar deal with XTEND Communications Corp., a provider of Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) and Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) systems, to market VoIP E911 services. Under terms of the agreement, XTEND Communications will market Intrado V9-1-1 for Enterprise to large businesses that operate and support their own Internet Protocol Private Branch Exchange (IP-PBX) based networks.

With the integration of Intrado V9-1-1 for Enterprise and XTEND's Enterprise Alert system, critical E911 support will be available to remote employees who use a softphone to access their company's private network, remote employees who use company assigned IP phone equipment, or others who are networked to their employer's main site.
