Belgacom Using SupportSoft Solution for Quick Deployment of IPTV

Belgian telecommunications company Belgacom SA is reportedly using
SupportSoft’s SmartAccess software to speed deployment of its new IPTV service.


The software will allow Belgacom’s approximately 800,000 broadband subscribers to “self-install” their own IPTV connections and immediately begin enjoying the new service, appropriately called Belgacom TV.

SupportSoft claims its SmartAccess software automatically verifies each customer’s system characteristics, such as firmware version, modem and set-top box type, and can automatically configure their PC and wireless gateway with the latest software as needed. The software provides “interactive” instructions to connect all the key components together – thus eliminating the need to dispatch a technician to each home in order to make the connection.


“Everything needed for a successful installation is within easy reach of the customer, reducing time-consuming, expensive service calls or truck rolls to the customer premises as well as speeding adoption of this new service,” a
press release from SupportSoft states.

According to the release, Belgacom’s broadband customers are already benefiting from SupportSoft’s software products, including automated solutions for customer self-service and assisted service.

The new Belgacom TV service will offer video-on-demand and other advanced IPTV features.
