ITEXPO Launches Startup Camp - Investors Take Note

We love startups - as a society we owe them more and more each day. The contributions of Apple, WalMart, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Intel (News - Alert), etc. Most companies which were not spinoffs started life as tiny babies in the enterprise pediatric ward.

In order to honor these startups and support new ones - giving them the exposure they need to get to the next level, TMC has launched in conjunction with Embrase/Larry Lisser an event called StartUp Camp Telephony. Expect this conference to give startups the exposure they need to the media, analysts, bloggers and investors. This in turn helps them get recognized by a much broader audience.

You may apply to present here.

Companies applying so far include: Aksys Networks (News - Alert), Dinsk, LLP, Call Loop LLC, Cloudvox, SecureNFC Inc., Unixbox, Zipano Technologies, MojoUSA, Inc and SayHired.

I don't need to hype the telecom market and its growth opportunities - some organizations like Skype have been purchased twice this decade -- and both times for more money than most people expected. Most recently for $2.75 billion. Tandberg was sold to Cisco for a premium which was greater than originally expected at $3.4 billion. In addition, the networking giant picked up Starent Networks (News - Alert) a short while back for $2.9 billion and isn't done.

Not to be left out, Google purchased VoIP provider Gizmo5 just last month - an inference/suggestion made by blogger Andy Abramson.

Perhaps you have noticed a theme here -- if not -- here it is -- telecom companies are hot -- on fire and even though I said this market didn't need hyping -- arent we in a great depression? Look at these numbers. Communications and tech have got to be some of the best places to be -- period.

Speaking of Andy, he has a nice post discussing all the reasons you need to be at ITEXPO, January 20-22, 2009 in Miami. Thanks Andy.

I can tell you sincerely, we have worked day and night to make sure this show has more relevant content than any other we have ever produced. How? We are constantly working on partnerships with people we believe are experts in disseminating useful information in their respective fields. We believe this is the absolute best way to increase the value of our community building products such as live events.

By bringing together a wide swath of the communications and technology markets at one time and place - in association with ITEXPO (News - Alert) we provide you with an unprecedented opportnity to learn about the entire market and network with more relevant people than at any other show. This includes spaces such as 4G, M2M, smart grid, open source telephony/Asterisk (News - Alert), cloud communications, virtualization, SIP trunking, VAR/channel opportunities and more.

So with that, please have a Happy Holiday Season and New Year and be sure to make plans to be in Miami in January. I look forward to seeing you there.
