US LEC Enhances Customer Care with PowerVIEW

TMCnet VoIP Minute Watch Columnist

IP-based services provider US LEC Corp. announced on Thursday that it added new account management, service ordering and personalization features to its PowerVIEW customer care service.

PowerVIEW's new features include the ability for users to export and save billing data into spreadsheet format, helping businesses better understand voice and data usage, utilization and features. The option to download and save customized reports, with the ability of sorting and filtering according to user preferences, also allows users to integrate these files into a company's reporting system. Additionally, accounts with multiple locations can retrieve data from each individual location, providing management a better view of telecomm usage on micro and macro levels.

"US LEC launched PowerVIEW as a complementary tool to our existing dedicated account teams to help empower customers to manage and analyze their data, Internet or voice services," said Tom Fabbricatore, senior vice president and CIO for US LEC. "These enhancements to PowerVIEW reflect our dedication to billing and customer service excellence by adding more features that help our customers better manage their telecommunications services."

Other new PowerVIEW features and upgrades include conferencing, toll-free services, call forwarding, call waiting, 3-way calling, caller ID and calling cards.

"Our customers not only require a reliable telecommunications partner, but also a business partner that can help them gain the most from their telecommunications dollar," Fabbricatore said. "These new features provide our customers the ability to make more informed decisions on their telecommunications spending while managing many of their US LEC services in an online environment."

US LEC made news earlier this month when it expanded its MPLS VPN service to the Triangle area of North Carolina including the cities of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. In addition to the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill areas, US LEC will provide its MPLS VPN to all other major business centers and their surrounding areas throughout the Carolinas. Those business centers will include Asheville, Charleston, Charlotte, Columbia, Greensboro, Greenville, Myrtle Beach, Spartanburg, Wilmington and Winston-Salem.

The company's MPLS VPN offering include a meshed and routed network and the prioritization of specific application traffic such as VoIP. The service can be scaled from fractional T1 speeds below 1.5 Megabits per second (Mbs) to DS3 (45 Mbs) to Ethernet Local Loop. US LEC offers both metro and wide-area networking options that allow customers to connect locally within a metro area or across large geographic distances.

"US LEC's addition of MPLS VPN to the Triangle area continues our roll-out of advanced IP-based data and voice products and services across our entire footprint," said Jeff Blackey, senior vice president of marketing and business development for US LEC. "With the MPLS expansion to the Triangle, our entire North and South Carolina footprint is enabled with IP-based solutions coverage for every major metro area in the two states."
