Versatel announced Thursday the launch of a new gateway offering for long distance VoIP termination service for independent telcos and CLECs.

The new product, IQgateway, features eight or 16 trunks and preserves investments in TDM switches while adding IP trunking, the company said.

The end result is that the IQgateway enables service providers to lower operating costs and send long distance traffic to VoIP carriers, Versatel said.

“Service providers will now be able to quickly break into new markets over wireline, wireless and cellular networks,” the company said.

Last month, Versatel announced that it secured $10 million from existing investors in a round of funding.

Be sure to catch the debut of the Service Provider Summit at this fall’s INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & Expo, which runs October 24-27, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, focusing on key issues number portability, ENUM, QoS, next-generation OSS and much more.
