VirtenSys Forms End-Customer IT Advisory Council

MANCHESTER, England & BEAVERTON, Ore. --(Business Wire)-- VirtenSys(TM), Ltd., the leader in delivering innovative, PCI Express-based I/O Virtualization systems that dramatically improve I/O utilization, enhance data throughput, and reduce I/O cost and power consumption in the data centers, announced it has formed an end-user Information Technology (IT) Advisory Council. The IT Advisory Council consists of IT executives from a wide range of organizations and industries who will provide vital and priceless real-life insight into the daily issues faced by IT managers, as well as information about their requirements, usage models, and deployment schemes. This input will enable VirtenSys to deliver I/O Virtualization products that tightly meet the market requirements.

"I am very pleased that we were able to assemble such outstanding IT leaders with hands-on experience from such a broad range of diverse industries," said Ahmet Houssein, VirtenSys CEO. "The Council's formation comes at a perfect time for VirtenSys. We are preparing to bring our I/O Virtualization systems to market later this year and the Council is in an excellent position to validate our product first-hand and provide us with input, feedback, and guidance."

The IT Council is chaired by Tim Hanrahan, managing partner at Iheira and former CIO and VP of information services at Adaptec, Inc (NASDAQ: ADPT). Members of the Council include:

-- KLA-Tencor Corporation (NASDAQ: KLAC) -- Steven Ruggiero, senior director enterprise systems,

-- Kodak Imaging Network, a wholly owned subsidiary of Eastman Kodak Company -- Subhasis Saha, Ph.D., senior engineering manager, infrastructure and imaging technology group,

-- Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) -- Ajay Srivastava, VP OnDemand Platform,

-- PayPal (NASDAQ: PAPXX) -- Kevin Cantoni, VP product development, and

-- Synopsys, INC (NASDAQ: SNPS) -- Hasmukh Ranjan, group director, ECS.

The Council provides a very important link to end-users. This is especially important to the company as it does not market directly to IT departments, the ultimate users of its products. Instead VirtenSys sells its products through leading server and storage original equipment manufacturers and system integrators.

"VirtenSys I/O Virtualization technology and products are unique, non-disruptive, and preserve our investments in legacy technology and know-how, while offering a standards-compliant migration path for servers to virtualized I/O resources," said Kevin Cantoni, vice president, product development at PayPal.

"The current I/O infrastructure is constraining our capability to respond to the explosion of services and applications and to take full advantage of other data center optimization initiatives," said Ajay Srivastava, VP OnDemand Platform at Oracle. "I/O Virtualization gives us the flexibility to dynamically manage and allocate the I/O resources to meet our business requirements."
