TMCnet Contributing Editor
BroadSoft, Inc. announced that Stage 2 Networks, an IP telephony provider in New York, is using the BroadSoft VoIP application platform to support its voice network services suite. The BroadWorks platform is being used by Stage 2 to deliver hosted PBX services to enterprise customers. The company will also use the suite to expand its services to include business trunking and wholesale services nationwide.
Stage 2 is the first U.S. service provider to deliver services using the BroadWorks platform, running on the IBM ( News - Alert) BladeCenter system and featuring the Linux OS. Stage 2 plans to partition the platform to offer wholesale services to multi-site customers, and to deliver services through direct and indirect sales channels.
"The BroadWorks platform positions us well in the rapidly growing market for IP telephony services," said Joe Gillette, CEO of Stage 2 Networks. "BroadWorks' scalability and advanced features were vital factors in deciding to add Business Trunking to our service offering as well as our decision to expand nationally. We continue to rely upon BroadSoft's six nines of reliability which typifies the quality our customers have come to expect from us. For Stage 2 Networks, being customer-centric is not just a slogan. It's our culture. And BroadSoft helps us deliver the highest quality and reliability possible to keep our customers happy."
"Stage 2 has recognized the enormous scalability benefit gained by running the entire BroadWorks platform on Linux-based hardware, enabling Stage 2 to grow both its services and its markets," said Michael Tessler, president and CEO of BroadSoft. "This step shows Stage 2's skill in blending technological innovation with business vision and customer commitment to offer the advanced communications features customers need. Stage 2's deployment further endorses the strong market leadership position of the BroadWorks application platform."
"IBM is about providing innovative BladeCenter-powered solutions that help customers compete and win in their chosen markets," said Jim Pertzborn, vice president of Telecommunications Solutions, IBM Systems & Technology Group. "We are delighted that our collaborative efforts with BroadSoft have resulted in this remarkable achievement of helping Stage 2 Networks provide expanded telecommunication services to its small-to-midsized business clients nationwide."
