AudioCodes Launches IP-PBX Recording System

Israel-based provider of Voice over Packet (VoP) technologies AudioCodes has released IPX, its new IP-PBX packet filtering product for the call recording market.
The company, which is demonstrating its IMS-ready media gateways at GlobalComm ( News - Alert) 2006 this week in Chicago, released SmartWORKS as the first of its new IP-focused suite of call recording products. AudioCodes ( News - Alert) announced that it will release other products from this family, including a combo of technologies from the company’s suite, along with Ai-Logix’s products. Ai-Logix is a manufacturer of voice recording hardware, recently acquired by AudioCodes.
SmartWORKS IPX monitors and collects voice packets in the IP-PBX environment and reports D-channel data to the customer’s application through the SmartWORKS API. The IPX can detect and forward media RTP to another network device where it can be recorded. While the SmartWORKS IPX supports Cisco and Avaya ( News - Alert) IP-PBX systems.
“The IPX builds on our SmartWORKS NGX product providing the same call event capturing capabilities,” said Andrew DuMont, VP of Engineering, Blade Business Line for AudioCodes, in a statement. “This enables our customers to quickly migrate their SmartWORKS NGX applications to VoIP environments.”
Today’s news follows AudioCodes’ announcement last month about its definitive agreement to acquire Nuera Communications, Inc. Nuera is a provider of infrastructure systems for broadband and long distance with an extensive client base in North America, as well as in Asia and Europe.
The transaction is expected to be completed at the end of the second quarter or early in the third quarter of this year, and is subject to usual and customary conditions for transactions of this nature, including regulatory approvals. The procedure has been approved by the boards of directors of both companies and by the stockholders of Nuera.
