This week, the VoIP Minute Watch brought you news from AT&T (News - Alert), Net2Phone, TelCove and Alcatel (News - Alert).


 
On Monday, AT&T announced that it was selected to offer voice and data services to Cambridge, Mass.-based imaging products provider Charrette. The network will hook up the company's 400 employees who work in numerous locations around the nation. This new, three-year contract will extend AT&T's long-standing relationship with Charrette.

 
AT&T Government Solutions announced on Tuesday that it was selected by the Internal Revenue Service to provide a Cisco-based IP Telephony system for packetized voice communications at 52 IRS locations throughout the US. The new contract calls for AT&T Government Solutions to provide the agency with a set of products and services comprised of site survey, wire plant upgrade, IP telephony platform, engineering services, program management and training.
 
VoIP systems provider Net2Phone announced on Tuesday that it selected BridgePort Networks' MobileVoIP convergence architecture for its telecom partners to be able to offer a joint landline/mobile system to their customers. Thanks to the new partnership Net2Phone will be able to enable its partners offer service subscribers with single number voice and messaging communications using dual mode cellular/WiFi (News - Alert) mobile phones that work in either network environment.
 
TelCove announced on Thursday that it will be providing VoIP-based calling services to Catholic Charities of Central Florida. The new, 3-year agreement calls for TelCove to deploy a VoIP system comprised of 100 stations distributed across the organization's six locations.
 
"We staff and support six locations, our headquarters, regional office, and refugee and immigration services center in Orlando, and our regional offices in Cocoa, Lakeland, Daytona Beach, Winter Haven, and Ocala," said the organization's president and CEO Arne Nelson. "Supporting such a dispersed set of locations while maintaining support for thousands of 'clients in need' is very communications-intensive. So, we needed a state-of-the-art voice service with the lowest possible monthly cost."
 
Phone Systems and Network, an alternative French operator, announced on Friday that completed the transformation of its local and long distance network from TDM to VoIP-based on elements of Alcatel's IP multimedia subsystem (IMS). With the all VoIP-based infrastructure in place, Phone Systems and Network can now deliver a set of enterprise and residential IP services including IP Centrex and local and long distance VoIP services.
