Voxeo Launches European Subsidiary

TMCnet Contributing Editor

IVR and VoIP platform provider Voxeo Corporation announced on Thursday that it expanded its operations in the European market by opening a UK subsidiary, Voxeo Europe Limited; a UK-based IVR and VoIP hosting center; and a European sales office.

Voxeo Europe Limited, headquartered in London, will market the suite of Voxeo products and services in Europe including Voxeo Prophecy software, which can be installed on a Windows compatible server at any enterprise, with support coming later this year for Linux and Apple (News - Alert) OS X; Voxeo Fusion servers, which feature pre-installed Prophecy software in a rack-mountable server appliance; and Voxeo VoiceCenter hosting, a facility in Slough, Berkshire featuring pre-deployed infrastructure running Voxeo Prophecy software.

Voxeo's support for VoiceXML allows any web application to control how to prompt, listen, and respond to callers, while Call Control eXtensible Markup Language (CCXML) enables a web application to control calls themselves, including support for call initiation, conferencing, routing, bridging, and call-center integration.

Voxeo VoiceCenter hosting supports inbound calls on toll-free or local numbers from countries in continental Europe, as well as calls to 0800, 0845, 0870, 0871 and local numbers within the UK. Outbound calls can be placed to any land-line, cellular, or VoIP phone. Both inbound and outbound calls can be delivered via traditional telephone lines or VoIP.

The opening of Voxeo's European offices and IVR hosting center follows Voxeo's announcement earlier this week of a partnership with MAP Telecom, a VoiceXML hosting company in Europe.

"These two initiatives give Voxeo the strongest possible start in Europe," said Stephen Neish, managing director of Voxeo Europe in a statement. "Voxeo's own facility in the UK will cater to predominantly UK firms and our US clients with operations in Europe. MAP Telecom's strong presence in continental Europe and the Middle East will continue to attract customers from those regions and users requiring multi-language capability." Under the partnership with MAP Telecom, Voxeo is to provide the Voxeo Prophecy voice platform to MAP sites in France, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt.

Voxeo made news when it announced it teamed up with Vicorp and Apptera to release a set of voice platforms earlier this year. Voxeo teamed with Vicorp, a provider of VoiceXML application delivery tools, to bundle Voxeo's Prophecy voice platform with Vicorp's xMP service creation software. Voxeo's Prophecy is a new platform that helps enterprises create and deploy speech applications. Prophecy bundles a telephony platform with speech recognition and synthesis.

With Vicorp's xMP enterprises can build and deploy voice-driven telephony applications using a suite of service creation tools, integrating a flow-chart like drag-and-drop development model. xMP includes standards-based VoiceXML application and service creation tools.
