Protel i-Next Picks Lucent/Juniper VoIP Support Offering
TMCnet VoIP Minute Watch Columnist
Protel i-Next offers a data and voice multi-service suite to enterprise customers and carriers throughout Mexico including VoIP, IP Centrex services, dedicated Internet access, virtual private networks (VPNs), MPLS VPNs, web hosting, online security services, and local and long distance voice services.
"This upgrade has enabled us to better ensure our quality of service levels and more effectively meet our service level agreements for our customers," said Benigno Perez Lizaur, president and CEO of Protel i-Next. "Juniper Networks M-series will deliver superior reliability and performance regardless of the services running through our network, enabling us to expand our VoIP and IP Centrex services."
The deal enabled Juniper to upgrade Protel i-Next's IP/MPLS backbone with its M-series routing platforms. Juniper's M-series allows providers to consolidate multiple networks onto a single IP/MPLS infrastructure.
"Lucent is pleased to be working with Juniper to help Protel i-Next better serve its customers by leveraging our experience deploying the world's most reliable networks," said Gabriel Herbel, sales director from Lucent de Mexico. "Juniper platforms offer exceptional performance and will enable Protel i-Next to expand its offerings with the confidence of having a reliable network."
Lucent made news earlier this month when it announced it would supply South Korean communications service provider KT with a VoIP system to deliver services to carriers in that country. The deal follows Lucent's recent similar agreement with Hanaro Telecom also of Korea.
KT chose Lucent's Accelerate Next Generation Communications Solutions portfolio, which includes the Lucent Feature Server, a platform delivering applications such as Hosted PBX, IP Centrex and Voice VPN, a call recording server, a presence server, a proxy server, and a location-based server.
"We are very pleased to win a series of VoIP projects from our major customers and this contract strengthens our leadership in the VoIP market in Korea," said John Yang, president and CEO of Lucent Technologies Korea back then. Lucent is proud to be part of this project. Our innovative technology and our accumulated experience in the deployment of KT's network will help KT provide a reliable, high quality network service that will open the door to a variety of useful new applications."
