Avaya Inc. just opened new compatibility testing facilities in Germany and Singapore to extend its DeveloperConnection Program, the company announced on Thursday. The new Avaya DeveloperConnection program labs test third-party products for compatibility with Avaya systems including IP telephony, contact centers and mobility applications.

In Germany, the new Avaya DevConnect Solution Interoperability and Test Lab is based in Frankfurt and co-located with Avaya's research and development departments at the Avaya Tenovis facility. Avaya had completed the acquisition of enterprise telecom service provider Tenovis, late last year. The Frankfurt lab is Avaya's second DevConnect lab based in EMEA. The company's lab in Guildford, U.K., also performs compliance testing for its software and other products.

The Frankfurt DevConnect lab tests for compliance with Avaya IP telephony platforms including the Avaya Communication Manager, Avaya IP Office, and the I5 and I55 IP PBX systems.

Avaya's Communication Manager is a software platform that supports the development of open Web Services-based applications. IP Office enables small and medium businesses with two to 256 users to integrate IP telephony-based telecommunications systems.

The company's new Singapore lab is co-located with Avaya's main R&D facility in that country. This lab will also test for compliance with the company's Communication Manager, AES, IP Office, Interactive Voice Response systems and call center systems.

DevConnect member eWings Technologies Inc. of Dallas has been testing its Communication ComAssistant with several Avaya platforms at the new Singapore lab. ComAssistant, which integrates enterprise business communication apps in a single platform, has completed compliance testing with Avaya's Communication Manager 3.0., AES and IP Office platforms.

The Avaya DeveloperConnection program currently includes more than 1,500 software and hardware developer companies, integrators, service providers and customers from around the world. The new Avaya DeveloperConnection labs bring the total worldwide to four including facilities in Lincroft, NJ, Singapore, Guildford, UK and Frankfurt, Germany.

Membership information and a listing of solutions developed and tested under the DeveloperConnection Program are available on the company's Web site.

Avaya made news earlier this month when the company inked a five-year global contract with ABN AMRO to support the international banking institution's migration to IP-based telephony across 14 countries.

The deal called for Avaya to upgrade ABN AMRO's systems and software across the bank's multiple branch offices, headquarters and contact center locations around the world. Avaya Global Services will provide outsourced management of the project and solutions.

"We are pleased and proud to be selected by ABN AMRO for this innovative global communications transformation initiative," said Lou D'Ambrosio, Avaya group vice president back then. "Using efficient IP networking to deliver advanced communications globally, this illustrates the business advantages and cost savings that can be achieved through intelligent communications."
