CloudShield Gets $10 M in Funds

TMCnet VoIP Minute Watch Columnist

CloudShield Technologies Inc., a VoIP packet inspection platform provider just scored a whopping $10 million in additional funding with current investors TPG Ventures, ComVentures, Foundation Capital and Paladin Capital, the company made the announcement on Friday.

"CloudShield's partners have successfully introduced solutions into their respective markets and production roll-outs are underway across many application spaces," said Matt Jones, CloudShield president and CEO. "These applications include Voice over IP processing and security, Denial of Service Mitigation services, and a Multi-level Security Guard to name a few. The wide range of applications is a testament to the CS-2000's versatility, and the ease at which solutions provider can build applications for it. And the list will continue to grow, because second and third application opportunities are typically uncovered once prospects are converted to customers."

CloudShield made news back in May when it announced it was tapped by TELUS in order to integrate CloudShield’s CS-2000 In-Network Computing platforms and optimize its new Denial of Service (DoS) Attack Mitigation managed security service offering.

TELUS' DoS prevention service uses CloudShield’s CS-2000 In-Network Computing platform and Arbor Networks’ Peakflow SP. Peakflow SP continuously monitors customer network traffic for anomalies and attacks, and determines ways to stop them. CloudShield's CS-2000 applies filters to stop the attack while allowing the good traffic to continue flowing.

"With more and more organizations moving to IP, maximizing the investment and guaranteeing systems security is a priority for TELUS," said David Fuller, vice president of solutions development for TELUS back then.

"Organizations need partners who are able to address the ever changing nature of today’s telecommunications system, and who have experience in designing, implementing and managing customized solutions that respond directly to the nature of security threats. With CloudShield as a valued partner, we are providing attack mitigation services in the network and hosting centers that operate so that the next time a customer is targeted by a denial-of-service attack, it will have zero impact on their day-to-day operations - and their bottom line."
