Voxeo Releases Voice Platforms
TMCnet VoIP Minute Watch Columnist
Voxeo teamed with Vicorp, a provider of VoiceXML application delivery tools, to bundle Voxeo's Prophecy voice platform with Vicorp's xMP service creation software. Released today, Voxeo's Prophecy is a new platform that helps enterprises create and deploy speech applications. Prophecy bundles a telephony platform with speech recognition and synthesis.
With Vicorp's xMP enterprises can build and deploy voice-driven telephony applications using a suite of service creation tools, integrating a flow-chart like drag-and-drop development model. xMP includes standards-based VoiceXML application and service creation tools.
"After extensively evaluating all VoiceXML service creation solutions on the market, Vicorp was clearly the perfect development-tool partner for Voxeo," said Jonathan Taylor, President and CEO of Voxeo. "Vicorp and Voxeo share an important goal, to make it extremely easy for our customers to create, deploy, and manage the widest variety of voice applications. Our combined solutions make it possible for customers to do just that - with less expense and in less time than ever before."
The systems will be sold by both Voxeo and Vicorp, and will also be available for free trials in Voxeo's Evolution developer online portal. Voxeo and Vicorp will also jointly develop solutions to extend xMP software with enhanced Call Control XML (CCXML) and Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) capabilities.
"Vicorp understands that voice applications are only as good as the underlying platform, which is why we are excited about a combined xMP-Prophecy offering," said Vicorp CEO, Brendan Treacy. "With Prophecy, Voxeo offers customers a platform that is more powerful, more versatile, and more affordable than anything we've seen before."
Voxeo also announced it joined forces with voice systems provider Apptera to offer Apptera's v-Business applications with Voxeo's Prophecy voice platform. Apptera's v-Business Solutions help businesses automate and personalize each customer service interaction. Apptera offers a range of enterprise-class voice systems with built-in up-sell and cross-sell capabilities, personalization and business intelligence for companies across a number of industries, including retail, pharmaceutical, financial services and transportation, among others.
"Ten years ago, the web was not widespread. Today, it's pervasive. In comparison, speech technology has had relatively stagnant growth," said Jonathan Taylor, president and CEO of Voxeo. "The web succeeded in large part because it was extremely inexpensive to build and deploy applications and the software needed to build these applications was extremely accessible. In contrast, speech technologies have remained expensive, complex, and inaccessible to most enterprises. Prophecy eliminates those problems, allowing voice applications to be deployed as quickly and easily as web applications. In fact, just like most web server software, Voxeo Prophecy can be downloaded for free and running calls on a PC in less than 15 minutes."
"Vocomo ceased operations on Wednesday August 31st, 2005. Like many startup companies, despite exhaustive efforts, we were unable to raise capital and were left without other options. We have greatly enjoyed serving our customers and want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to facilitate a smooth transition. As of August 31st, 2005, Voxeo will provide 24x7 support for VocomoVoice Response customers. Voxeo is also committed to making this transition as smooth as possible," said Vocomo's notice posted on their Web site.
