Covads Line-Powered Voice Service Wins Product of the Year Award from Internet Telephony Magazine
VoIP and broadband provider Covad announced today that its Line-Powered Voice (LPV) consumer VoIP service has won a 2005 Product of the Year Award from Internet Telephony Magazine.
Covad’s LPV service is a consumer VoIP service that eliminates two problems with standard internet telephony: the need for a broadband connection, and the potential for service disruption during power outages.
LPV uses analog phone equipment, and is powered from the central office. It also includes full e-911 service.
“Line-powered voice is a revolutionary product developed by Covad to provide a facilities-based alternative for local phone service,” said Covad CEO Charles Hoffman, in a press release.
This is the second year in a row Covad has won an Internet Telephony Product of the Year Award. Last year, the company’s business-class VoIP offerings—vPBX and PBXi—were also recognized.
Each year, Internet Telephony Magazine editors present Product of the Year awards to companies that demonstrate a commitment to quality, and leadership in the VoIP industry.
The Product of the Year Award winners for 2005 will be highlighted in the January and February 2006 issues of Internet Telephony Magazine.
