Ekahau Inc. to offer RTLS Tags for Hospital Staff in Emergency Situations
Ekahau Inc., provider of WiFi based Real-Time Location System (RTLS) Solutions has announced a new RTLS solution that works as an alarm system for hospital staff in emergency situations.
Following Friday’s news of Ekahau’s partnership with Emergin to create WiFi based alerts on the location of hospital staff and equipment and furthering their “Powered by Ekahau” project offerings—Ekahau has now developed an RTLS alert system that functions as a “panic button” for hospital personnel in emergency situations.
The solution, easily integrated with existing WiFi systems, combines location tracking with the Ekahu Positioning Engine (EPE) 3.1 Software and Ekahau’s T201 WLAN tags.
In the event of an emergency, the system allows for a simple button to be pushed for security to receive a warning via intranet on their monitor or through as SMS text message which notifies them of a specific incident location.
A recent press release stated that in the most current sampling results from the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Nurses, orderlies and other hospital staff were the victims of nearly 5,000 violent assaults in 2004.”
In an effort to improve these conditions and ensure worker safety, Enkahu’s RTLS system has already been deployed by hospitals in Finland, France and Spain.
Antti Korhonen, president and CEO of Ekahau said, "By offering versatile alarm routing in addition to our real-time location capabilities for employee safety applications, Ekahau is delivering a richer solution for the health care industry, as well as one that is cost-effective and can be set up in a matter of days."
