Modtones Finds That Movie Themes Make Popular Ringtones

TMCnet Associate Editor

Modtones, a ringtone service provided by Moderati, has reportedly released a set a “movie theme” ringtones just in time for the movie awards season.

Among some of the popular “movie theme” ringtones now available are “Scotty Doesn’t Know” (“Eurotrip”); “Halloween Theme” (“Halloween”); “Pink Panther Theme” (“Pink Panther”); “Eye of the Tiger” (“Rocky”); “Godfather Love Theme” (“The Godfather”); “Mission Impossible Theme” (“Mission Impossible”); James Bond Theme (Intro); “Seasons of Love” (“Rent”)’ “Dueling Banjos” (“Deliverance”); and “Tubular Bells” (“The Exorcist”).

Major and second-tier wireless carriers in the U.S. can offer these new ringtones through Modtones’ distribution network – and consumers can download the ringtones at Modtones.com.

“The silver screen, small screen and PC screen are giving away to that most ubiquitous screen of all, the cell phone,” a press release from Moderati states. “In the spirit of award season, Modtones proudly presents its first list of the best movie performers on the fourth screen.”

According to the release, seven of Modtones’ top 10 ringtones are from movies with sequels, “which may prove the power of repeated impressions.” The themes come from a mix of movie genres, including comedies, horror flicks, thrillers, love stories and dramas - including selections from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.

“Movie themes make fantastic ringtones because of their familiarity and the mood they evoke,” said Cindy Lundin Mesaros, VP of marketing for Moderati, in the release. “The theme from ‘Halloween’ communicates dread and fear - perfect for when your mother-in-law calls.”

Moderati offers CMX polyphonic ringtones, song tones, sound effects, voice tones and wallpaper through the company’s BREW platform. The ringtones are crafted in-house by a team of musicians.

Moderati and its parent company, Faith Inc., are technology partners of QUALCOMM.
