Launch: BroadSoft, Atreus Residential VoIP Self-Service

TMCnet Contributing Editor

VoIP application software provider BroadSoft and VoIP, IMS and IP supplier Atreus Systems announced on Monday that they extended their partnership to offer service providers the opportunity to launch residential VoIP services. The partnership will allow for the integration of Hosted PBX, IP Centrex and Business Trunking applications; and will aid operators to launch differentiated residential VoIP offerings.

By deploying Atreus' automated provisioning and customer self-management software over BroadSoft's IMS-compliant VoIP application software, operators have the operational and business knowledge to deliver services to the residential market.

Among the features included are streamline service ordering and provisioning using simplified, self-management portals; simplify feature bundle creation and management capabilities; automate IP phone ordering and configuration; simplify complex operational issues including PSTN interconnect, Local Number Portability, updating directory listings and emergency services; bulk provision and migration from legacy platforms; and bundle tiered and personalized multimedia offerings for the residential market.

BroadSoft made news back in February when it announced that Telefónica de España deployed VoIP services based on the BroadWorks VoIP application platform. According to the companies, the service, deployed over the Ericsson (News - Alert) system, is one of the first IMS deployments delivering VoIP services to the residential and SME markets in that European country.

Telefónica used BroadWorks applications based on an IMS-ready platform to deliver primary line services to residential consumers and SMEs over any broadband connection. By using the BroadWorks platform, Telefónica's customers will be able to manage their own service preferences via the Web. Applications such as simultaneous ring, where any call to the home number will automatically ring any other number specified by the user, can be managed directly by the customer, allowing end-users to make their own service changes such as setting up voicemail preferences and call forwarding.
