Apple Computer Inc. has refurbished its iMac line with
Intel Corp.’s recently launched Core 2 Duo microprocessors.

Alert) unveiled the new processor this summer. The chips are faster compared to those previously used in the iMac and other Macintosh computers.
Meanwhile, according to the Associated Press, Apple has launched a latest version of its consumer desktop computer. The latest iMac series will have with a 24-inch screen along with 2.16-gigahertz chip. Apple has set the price of the computer as well - $1,999.
”Every iMac - from the $999 model up through the new dazzling 24-inch widescreen model - now features blazing Core 2 Duo performance,” said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing, in the AP report.
Both the iMac and Apple’s new laptop are based on Intel’s Core Solo processor. Apple used to opt for
IBM Corp. and
Freescale Semiconductor Inc. for hardware support. However, from June 2005, the company has switched over to Intel.
