LexisNexis Offers Enhanced Capabilities to Attorneys on the Move

LexisNexis, a provider of information and services solutions, has launched Time Matters 8.0 and Billing Matters 8.0, the newest versions of the company’s practice management and billing software packages.

By integrating with Adobe Acrobat Reader, LexisNexis Time Matters 8.0 automatically saves attachments from Outlook emails and provides for every record type AutoTXT shorts intended to increase accuracy and speed.

Now shipping with full back office accounting features, LexisNexis Billing Matters 8.0 is designed to enhance user mobility with new support for Windows Mobile 5.0 and Windows Mobile Smartphone. Time Matters ad Billing Matters will also support Palm PDA and Blackberry® wireless handhelds, featuring the ability to send billing entries from these devices.



According to Ralph Calistri, vice president and general manager of LexisNexis Practice Management, there’s a reason why Time Matter is consistently named as a top tool by attorneys – it helps them with manage their businesses. By enabling lawyers and their staffs to get organized, improve productivity, provide better service to clients, keep on top of billing and stay connected while on the road, Time Matters and Billing Matters are integral parts of many successful firms. This new version furthers LexisNexis’ Total Practice Solutions strategy with even greater linking to law practice tools.

LexisNexis recently acquired CaseMap and as a result, Time Matters links directly with the solution, allowing attorneys to send matters, contacts, research information and more for trial preparation and analysis. Integration with NetDocuments from LexisNexis is also new to this version. NetDocuments delivers full document management as an online service.

Time Matters will also link with a range of practice tools, such as LexisNexis PCLaw, LexisNexis HotDocs document automation software, Shepard’s CheckCite and Shepard’s Link brief drafting tools, Microsoft (News - Alert) Office applications, WordPerfect, iManage document tools, and WORLDOX and Docs Open (Hummingbird) document management software.

Mobility capabilities are gaining popularity among professionals throughout multiple industries. Attorneys are included in that group of individuals who often have to travel to their customers and thus providing them a way to continue to be productive while on the move can contribute greatly to overall efficiency.

Customers are likely to gain substantial benefit as these professionals will be able to deliver requested information in a more timely and accurate manner. Whether or not it can contribute to the efficiency of the legal system itself remains to be seen.
