AT&T Inks Networking Contract with EcoWater Systems

AT&T just inked a new networking contract with St. Paul, Minn.-based EcoWater Systems, a water treatment systems manufacturer.

The new, two-year agreement calls for the telecom giant to act as EcoWater's primary IP service provider by delivering MPLS Private Network Transport (PNT) services to the company's headquarters, as well as to its operations center in Mississippi.

By deploying an MPLS network, EcoWater Systems will eventually be able to integrate new locations into its network. The network will also link the company's two existing locations, as well as provide support for services such as high-speed Internet, data applications, and VoIP.

"We are confident that AT&T's (News - Alert) solution will not only provide reliable connectivity between our headquarters and our operations center but also enable us to consolidate services and reduce our costs," said EcoWater Systems' information technology manager Will Weisert in a statement released on Thursday. "AT&T's MPLS solution also gives us the flexibility we need as we pursue additional growth opportunities."

AT&T made news yesterday when it announced an extension to its suite of online PC, laptop and server backup services for consumers and small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), with the introduction of AT&T Online Vault and AT&T Remote Vault.

AT&T Online Vault is a Web-based PC backup service that stores user data at a remote location. The service is being marketed as a way to protect financial records, digital photos, music and other important documents. Remote Vault is a similar service geared toward business customers as a way to protect their files offsite at a centrally managed data center, where they can be remotely accessed and copied.
