State of Alaska Deploys BusinessObjects XI Release 2

State of Alaska’s Division of Finance has selected BusinessObjects XI Release 2 as its business intelligence standard to improve operational efficiency.

The agency that provides accounting, payroll, and disbursement services for state government has also selected Business Objects Enterprise Information Management (EIM) solutions to ensure data consistency and accuracy.

The Division of Finance deployed BI solution from BusinessObjects to consolidate data from a variety of sources into one, accurate version of the truth.

In future, the Division plans to transition some of its older legacy systems to a new enterprise-wide IT infrastructure. The solution from BusinessObjects provides enough flexibility to straddle all systems and applications.

Utilizing the Web Intelligence, The Division of Finance can now provide authorized employees with customizable, self-service reporting capabilities.

While earlier it took staff hundreds of hours to create and maintain human resources reports, with BusinessObjects XI Release 2 these reports can be scheduled and automatically generated. This will save time and improve accuracy.

Business Objects EIM solutions are seamlessly integrated with the BusinessObjects XI Release 2 platform. By using BusinessObjects Data Integrator, the Division will bring together information from statewide systems for accounting, payroll, and human resources.

Additionally, BusinessObjects Metadata Manager will trace data back to its source to ensure its accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.

“With increased pressure on state and local agencies to run like businesses, these organizations need business intelligence solutions that allow all employees to take an active role in improving performance,” said Jay Johnson, vice president of the Government Business Unit at Business Objects in a press release.

He continued: “As the State of Alaska has recognized, trustworthy data is the foundation to any successful BI strategy. That’s why so many public agencies are choosing Business Objects EIM solutions as the first step in their BI deployments.”

Business Objects has also announced the appointment of Keith Gile as its senior advisor within the Strategy Office.

Gile is an expert on BI, information management, reporting and analysis, and end-user segmentation, and will helping define the ongoing Business Objects vision and strategy.

Most recently, Gile was principal analyst in Forrester’s Information Delivery research group, covering information management, data management, and business intelligence.

More information is available at Business Objects and State of Alaska.
