Avnet Teams Up with Microsoft to Promote ERP Solutions

TMCnet Contributing Editor

Avnet Technology Solutions and Microsoft Corp. have decided to come together to help value-added resellers (VARs) sell and support enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions for midmarket and medium-sized enterprises. The solutions are based on Oracle’s (News - Alert) JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and Microsoft (News - Alert) platform technologies.

Avnet Technology Solutions (News - Alert) is an operating group of Avnet Inc. and a distributor offering enterprise computer products and embedded subsystems.

Apart from that ERP solution, Avnet has plans to come up with an extensive range of server hardware from leading suppliers. Avnet will also offer other ERP solutions with a range of Microsoft platform technologies, including SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2000, Microsoft Office 2003 and Exchange Server 2003. Add to that Partner support including education, sales, marketing, financing, managed services and implementation services.

“Our relationship with Avnet combines the power of the Microsoft platform technologies with Avnet’s innovative delivery model to provide an efficient and affordable ERP solution to our mutual customers,” said Rob Bernard, general manager of the Worldwide ISV Group at Microsoft, in a press release. “The technical work that we’ve done to support new and existing Oracle JD Edwards customers helps them get more value from their ERP investments.”

Scott Abbott, vice president of Enterprise Applications at Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, said the collaboration will help them provide their partners with cost-effective, turnkey solutions capable of enhancing productivity, better manage risk and simplifying operations and processes for end-user customers.

“Our solutions-based strategy is designed to meet the needs of our partners by offering new services and technologies tailored to their customers’ business challenges,” said Abbott.

Avnet and Microsoft have earlier worked together for more than five years to develop world-class solutions to their mutual customers. This new collaboration will definitely take the relationship a step further.
