The project will be managed by AT&T's Government Solutions unit.
“Today, federal civilian agencies require increased network reliability, redundancy, and scalability in order to continuously meet the needs of their customers,” said AT&T Government Solutions’ president Don Herring in a statement. “AT&T will help the Postal Service and its millions of customers benefit by providing a voice and data communications system that meets today’s requirements while helping the Postal Service prepare for tomorrow's communications needs.”
Under the contract, AT&T will provide local voice services to U.S. Postal Services offices based in Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, California and Nevada.
Today’s news comes on the heels of AT&T’s Monday announcement about it inking a
contract with business process and IT services firm Keane to extend its network services for the company’s 50 locations worldwide. The new contract specifically called for AT&T to link Keane’s (

and Frame Relay network.
The new project will involve extending AT&T IP-ATM and Frame Relay to Keane's application development centers. The move will allow for a more secure collaboration between these sites and Keane's locations in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
