Enea Systems Extends Supplier Agreement with Agere

Enea, has announced the extension of its supplier agreement with Agere Systems (News - Alert), provider of software solutions and semiconductors designed for networking and mobility markets.


 
The three year extended agreement is estimated to cost $5 million and would permit Agere to continuously use Enea’s DSP RTOses in their world-class handset platforms. Johan Wall, Enea’s CEO is looking forward to expanding its working relationship with Agere in developing DSP solutions for next generation mobile handsets.  
 
Enea’s product, OSEck (OSE Compact Kernel), the DSP-optimized version of Enea’s full-featured OSE  is perfect for Agere’s mobile platforms. It offers reliable and affordable high-speed connectivity, multimedia processing, and extended battery life and will be used with selected Agere mobile handset platforms.
 
Denis Regimbal, General Manager and Executive vice president for Angere’s Mobility Division, is also pleased with the agreement extension. He said that OSEck is the best for Enea’s Sceptre and Vision handset platforms. He further explained that OSEck has been proven to be reliable and very easy to use.
 
Agere’s Sceptre platform is specifically designed to a provide low power, high-performance solution to 2.5G/GPRS/EDGE and dual-mode 3G/UMTS mobile phones. Its download speed is up to 384 kilobits per seconds and offers multimedia messaging, polyphonic sound, and wireless application protocol (WAP) browsing. These mobile units support MPEG4 video playback, audio and video streaming, CD-quality music, and digital photo imaging.
 
Agere’s other product, the Vision platform, is the next generation mobile platform designed for new mobile handsets. Combining media, communication, and application processors, this product delivers excellent video streaming and comes with modular stack to support multiple handset protocols.
