Freeyourid.com Offers Personalized OpenID Solution

Freeyourid.com, together with Global Name Registry, Key Systems and JanRain are offering OpenID solution, a fully personalized Web service for establishing an online identity.

Freeyourid.com is giving everyone a personalized Web address by providing the ability to create an e-mail address and an OpenID. Online users can create a their own personalized address using these common formats; first.last.name. or first@lastname. The unique service is breaking new ground in online communications by providing a central, and potentially lifelong, contact point for every user.



The OpenID service is being offered free for the first 90 days. About 4,000 users recently took advantage of a free trial. According to a press release, the service is now being used by about 1,000 individuals every day.

Hakon Haugnes, president of Global Name Registry, said the service is appealing because of its unique features.


”A .NAME is personal Internet property of the best kind,” he said in the press release. “What can be more memorable and descriptive for your identity than your name, like [email protected]? A .NAME address is the perfect basis for OpenID digital identity and can stay with a person for life.”

Global Name Registry specializes on digital identity and provides individuals all over the world memorable, personal online identities. The company is currently offering personalized email addresses and domain names. In addition, the company is the global administrator of .NAME domain.

JanRain provides identity services through OpenID technology. The company was recently selected for the Business 2.0 “Next Net 25” list.

Founded in 1998, Key Systems was issued a license from the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to register .COM, .NET and .ORG international domain names.
