Baseball fans at Spring Training ballparks in the states of Arizona and Florida will now be able to enjoy uninterrupted mobile services from Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless. Indeed, the mobile operator announced on Friday that it has made upgrades to its network to provide expanded access to subscribers during Spring Training and throughout the 2007 professional baseball season.

"We are committed to ensuring that our network steps up to the plate for our customers," commented Dick Lynch, executive vice president and chief technical officer for Verizon Wireless. "Our continued network investments, paired with our incomparable customer service, provide our customers with the ultimate wireless experience."

The network access expansion announced today is part of Verizon Wireless' major investment, valued in a reported $35 billion, since the company was formed seven years ago. The operator's upgrades included the addition of new cell sites and installation of new technologies to improve call quality, increase coverage areas, and enable a variety of advanced services such as TXT and Picture Messaging, V CAST and V CAST Music, BroadbandAccess, and other applications.

Verizon Wireless also expanded its EV-DO Revision A (Rev. A) wireless broadband network in Spring Training locations in Florida: Bradenton, Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. Myers, Lakeland, Melbourne, Tampa, Sarasota, St. Petersburg and Vero Beach.

Verizon Wireless made news yesterday as the mobile operator introduced two new texting plans for its subscribers. The new plans will offer customers not only more texting for less money, but also more picture and video messaging for the same cost.

Under the new $15 plan, now customers will get to send and receive up to 1,500 messages instead of 1,000. Under the new $20 plan, text lovers will get to send and receive up to 5,000 messages instead of 2,500. Both plans include Unlimited IN Messaging, giving customers unlimited text, picture and video messaging to other Verizon Wireless customers. Verizon also offers a $5 plan for 250 messages, and a $10 plan for 500 messages.
