APM Music and Indie911 Provide New Source of Independent Music
 TMCnet Contributing Editor
APM Music and Indie911 have partnered to provide television networks, film studios, trailer houses, video game companies and other producers with direct access to independent music for licensing opportunities.
Artists using Indie911 will now be able to submit music for consideration to APM. Both companies will equally divide the revenue earned by the licensing of music through the new partnership. Artists will receive payments directly from Indie911.
The companies pointed out in a joint announcement that music supervisors regularly need to quickly find affordable pre-cleared and well-produced independent music. This partnership, then, represents an exciting opportunity to access a large selection of fresh, quality content.
All music submissions are reviewed by Indie911 for quality of sound and content before being added to the Indie911 Web site. These submissions are then further reviewed by the APM’s music directors for possible inclusion in the APM library.
After the material is selected, it is categorized and then marketed to APM's clients—which include CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, Universal, Discovery, Current TV, MTV, BBDO, Electronic Arts, Midway Games, and Amp’d Mobile.
“With the arrival of video podcasts, user-generated content sites, mash-up sites, digital television channels, mobile platforms and Internet television, there has never been a greater need for a wide variety of music to fill the needs of an expanding production community,” said APM Music president Adam Taylor, in a statement.
Taylor continued: “APM Music's relationship with Indie911 provides our clients with a large and ever-growing collection of quality independent music. This combination will be enormously beneficial for Indie911's artists and APM's clients alike.”
Indie911's independent artists can expect huge potential for exposure and revenue. The music business is continuously moving to the Internet, and thus the artists are searching for non-traditional means of distribution. They don’t have to hang their hopes on radio and major label deals.
“Indie911 is not simply an online space for artists to display their work,” said Justin Goldberg, CEO/founder of Indie911 and the Hoooka, in a statement.
Goldberg continued: “We’re finding ways to enhance the artist services we provide - uniting the best independent music resource with the biggest and best music library in the business allows our artists to generate ongoing revenue from their work while retaining ownership of their music in other areas.”
APM Music is a joint venture of EMI Music Publishing and BMG Music Publishing. The company provides American and Canadian production clients with exclusive access to over 225,000 recordings of music produced for use in film, television, radio, and new media productions.
Indie911 is an online media and social network providing tools and resources for thousands of musicians, filmmakers and consumers to sell, stream or share any content anywhere online to an expanding network of users through its hoooka platform - a free portable digital media locker.
