Commtouch Intros New Solution to Speed Up E-Mail Spam Detection

TMCnet Contributing Editor

Commtouch has introduced version 5.0 of its Enterprise Anti-Spam Gateway (News - Alert). This anti-spam solution features zero-hour virus outbreak detection to complement traditional enterprise anti-virus solutions and block new malware variants.

“We see more and more similarity and overlap between spam and malware innovation and distribution methods, so it is a natural next step to integrate Commtouch’s Zero Hour solution into the Enterprise Anti-Spam Gateway, to provide the ultimate inbox protection,” said Haggai Carmon, vice president of products at Commtouch, in a statement.

Carmon continued: “Version 5.0 guards against both spam and email-borne malware outbreaks in real-time, making it the ideal outbreak defense for the enterprise.”

Commtouch Enterprise Anti-spam Gateway 5.0 comes with spam detection rates of more than 97 percent. The solution is based on the company’s patented Recurrent Pattern Detection (RPD) technology. RPD detects new spam outbreaks in real-time--whether they are image-based, PDF, Excel, or some other format.

It takes just 30 minutes to deploy Commtouch Enterprise Anti-spam Gateway. The solution offers full support for any email platform and network architecture. Commtouch claims that Version 5.0 will offer flexible control and configuration, fully automated operation and convenient user-group management. Additionally, the Commtouch solution offers powerful end-user control including personal quarantine and personal policy management as well.

Commtouch Software (News - Alert) Ltd. is a global developer and provider of proprietary anti-spam, Zero-Hour virus protection and Reputation Service solutions. Using core technologies including RPD, the Commtouch Detection Center scrutinizes billions of e-mail messages per week to identify new spam and malware outbreaks within minutes of their introduction.
