OpenSpan, Inc. today announced that it has partnered with Initiate Systems ( News - Alert), Inc., a provider of master data management solutions and enterprise master person index software. Through the partnership, OpenSpan expects to enhance interoperability for healthcare industry applications and data.
Under the OEM partnership, Initiate Systems will use the OpenSpan ( News - Alert) Platform to extend the capabilities of the Initiate Enterprise Integrator Toolkit integration component, enabling healthcare organizations to integrate health information exchange solutions.
The OpenSpan Platform adds to the integration capabilities of the Initiate Enterprise Integrator Toolkit, which enables healthcare organizations to provide access to patient data across legacy and Web-based point-of-service applications, according to officials.
Lorraine Fernandes, vice president of healthcare industry ambassador at Initiate Systems, said that the interoperability, data integration and data management are of critical importance in the healthcare industry.
“The OpenSpan Platform provides the flexibility required to integrate data between our applications and our customers’ closed healthcare applications,” she said, adding that this will enable customers with closed systems to leverage the Initiate Enterprise Integrator Toolkit.
The companies’ officials said that they are offering healthcare organizations the ability to integrate across heterogeneous, legacy clinical systems, along with providing access to that data in multiple thick-client, Web-based and other point-of-service applications.
All this enable healthcare organizations to make the latest accurate patient data available when and where it is most needed, according to officials. With an easy to access single view of the patients, healthcare organizations can “improve the speed and accuracy of patient information,” they say.
“With a faster, more cost-effective approach to integration, the OpenSpan Platform is helping organizations in every industry to more quickly realize the business benefits of application and data integration,” said Francis Carden ( News - Alert), chief executive officer at OpenSpan.
He also said that Initiate Systems is using the OpenSpan Platform to enable its patient identification services to be integrated into large healthcare systems without incurring any modification to the systems.
Carden added: “This enables Initiate to provide its customers with a complete view of patient information, which allows for HIPAA compliance and improved patient care.”
