Direct EDI Improves Data Storage with ITatOnce
 TMCnet Contributing Editor
ITatOnce announced today that it’s providing Direct EDI with storage consolidation solutions.
Direct EDI says it was experiencing continuous exponential growth in enterprise data, databases, servers and applications. The company also says it had to manage the continuing growth of new users and decided to deploy Storage consolidation solutions, also called storage convergence from ITatOnce.
With these solutions, Direct EDI was able to centralize data storage within multiple servers, according to the companies.
According to ITatOnce’s sources, Direct EDI wanted to facilitate data backup and archiving for all subscribers in the enterprise while minimizing the time required to access and store data. The company says that Direct EDI was constantly battling to provide continuous support and enhance storage needs. When storage was directly attached to servers, it created an environment where multiple servers are each configured with varying amounts of storage only accessible to that one server often resulting in numerous single points of failure, according to the company.
ITatOnce moved the servers out of the Direct Attach Storage environment and onto a SAN environment and thus helped with data consolidation. There are several benefits of the Storage Consolidation Project, company officials say, including: centralization of storage and lower administrative overhead; Simplified IT operations and reduction of total IT expenditures; Expansion of storage capacity, performance, and network bandwidth online without downtime; an increase in the availability and protect critical data sets; and consolidation of storage assets across multiple OS environments.
“I wanted to personally thank you for exceeding my expectations with the handling of our data consolidation and migration project,” said Michael Davidovich, chief executive officer of Direct EDI. He said he’s impressed with the level of professionalism and knowledge ITatOnce’s staff exhibited and zero downtime with which they were able to handle their project.
“I thank you for watching over our bottom line and performing this project on time and on budget. I am looking forward to the next project on our IT roadmap,” Davidovich said.
