Macrovision Intros New Digital Media Recognition Solution

Allowing access to rich, descriptive music and movie data on more device types, Macrovision Solutions Corporation announced the latest version of its LASSO media recognition solution. This gives customers access to Macrovision’s extensive AMG data solutions database of music and movie information on more device types, including MP3 players, mobile devices, home CD and DVD players, and automotive entertainment systems.

Consumer electronics (CE) manufacturers can now customize database sizes using the latest version of Macrovision’s. Possible customizations include field or category of information, content size and geographic region. With this, manufacturers can also implement the AMG data solutions database for almost any device type, regardless of screen limitations.

CE manufacturers need easy-to-implement, customizable solutions that add consumer appeal to make their products devices of choice. For both connected and unconnected situations, CE manufacturers can embed content identification capabilities directly into digital media devices with Macrovision’s LASSO solution. For consumers, this device provides the ability to search a discography to quickly find all albums released by their favorite artists. It also lets them identify CD or DVD information by a UPC barcode number to differentiate their media content from other released versions.

The complete solution includes access to AMG’s full entertainment database. With this, users can easily pull up descriptive and relational data about their favorite content. LASSO is also the industry’s only solution to provide this rich level of data for DVD titles.

“Consumer demands for viewing or listening experience are constantly changing and getting more sophisticated,” said Steve Shannon, executive vice president of product management at Macrovision, in a statement. “At Macrovision, we want to help CE manufacturers deliver an enhanced entertainment experience across a broad spectrum of devices in any environment, both online and off. Our LASSO media recognition solution, coupled with our comprehensive database of media information, is essential in advancing the consumer experience.”
