HearMe (News - Alert), a division of Paltalk, has launched version 3.1 of its online video conferencing tool.

HearMe 3.1 is a browser-based tool that utilizes ActiveX controls to provide optimum performance with minimal hardware. The solution mainly provides video/audio conferencing, desktop and application sharing, and as well as online browser-based meeting rooms.

This Web-based video conferencing system allows small businesses, distance educators and mobile work forces to conduct meetings in real time at an affordable price, HearMe said.

The company also announced that it has completed integration with SugarCRM (News - Alert), a provider of commercial open source customer relationship management (CRM) software. The integration enables SugarCRM users to instantly launch HearMe's desktop video conferences directly from the SugarCRM user interface.

Enhancements to the newest version of HearMe include Web document presentation mode, improved support for Windows Vista, optional independent desktop application and enhanced security for log in and payment.

The Web document presentation mode in HearMe 3.1 enables participants in a meeting       to share Web documents and streaming videos, in real-time, using the HearMe video platform. The optional standalone desktop application facilitates users to easily launch HearMe meetings from a computer desktop.

HearMe also features built-in VoIP capabilities, eliminating the need for a conference phone bridge line. This decreases costs for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and enterprises.

HearMe officials said that the company’s current customer base will be moved to the new version immediately.

"By integrating with the tools businesses use daily, such as SugarCRM, we're able to drive HearMe into the DNA of our customers' work cultures," said Matt Gore, vice president of marketing for HearMe, in a statement. "Integrations such as this one illustrate a larger trend in the marketplace — the blending of CRM and collaboration applications into a unified solution to increase productivity."

"SugarCRM is a powerful platform for effectively building and maintaining relationships with customers," said Paul Oh, vice president of technology alliances at SugarCRM, in a statement. "HearMe's audio and video conferencing features offer a natural way to extend those relationships by connecting customers in a face-to-face manner."
