YWCA of Metro Dallas Adopts MPower

The YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas, has selected MPower to manage its constituent relationships and step up its fundraising.

Till now, the YWCA has been using a proprietary donor management database system.

MPower's open source constituent relationship management (CRM) solution will help YWCA to have greater flexibility and control over its technology, which is essential for cultivating strong relationships with supporters and driving participation.

MPower is an open source CRM software solution that is designed for nonprofit organizations. It is available without licensing fees and users can have access to the source code so they can modify the solution, integrate it with their other software and develop new features and functionality.

"The choice was obvious because MPower can accomplish everything our previous solution did and more, it's so much easier to use and we can integrate it with all our other systems as well as develop new features as our needs change," said Deborah Bigham, Vice President of External Affairs of the YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas.

Bigham continued: "The previous solution was huge, too complex and difficult to use -- you had to 'move mountains' to get anything done and pay the vendor to change anything, plus the training was very expensive. Now, we have real control and freedom to operate the way we want to versus having to operate according to how the old vendor's software works."

The YWCA will use MPower to better identify donors for more targeted and higher impact direct mailings. In a releae, the group has also expressed its plans to integrate its MPower system with: 1) Sage MIP Fund Accounting, a leading nonprofit financial management solution from Sage Software (News - Alert); and 2) email and Web site content management tools. The YWCA may also launch special events and endowment, which can be more effectively managed with MPower.

"The YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas is typical of so many nonprofits today -- the organization wants a truly modern, flexible CRM solution to not only manage its current needs but also to support future growth -- including growth that's not even envisioned at this point," said Randy McCabe, Founder and CEO of MPower. "Because it's completely open software, MPower gives the Y — and all users — the ability to constantly adapt its system and to do so easily."
