ProPay Eases eBay Transactions With Electronic Payment Services
 TMCnet Contributing Editor
ProPay, a provider of merchant payment solutions, is offering its electronic merchant services for eBay ( News - Alert) sellers. The new service is part of eBay’s plan to move to 100 percent electronic payments — credit cards, ProPay or PayPal.
ProPay offers services to advanced power sellers who accept or plan to accept credit cards in both eBay and off-eBay transactions.
According to ProPay, moving all eBay purchases to an electronic method will help expedite the purchase process. It will help reduce customer complaints and negative feedback from the customers.
“ProPay is looking forward to providing alternative merchant services to help improve the buying/selling experience,” said Greg Pesci, ProPay executive vice president of Business Strategy, in a statement. “We welcome the opportunity to support the advanced eBay power sellers, who we anticipate will benefit most from the comprehensive payment solutions we provide.”
Electronic payments make the checkout process faster and more reliable for sellers and buyers. They reduce ‘item not received’ (INR) rate as well. According to eBay, items paid for with check or money order are 80 percent more likely to result in an item not received (INR) than those paid with credit card. Also, check or money order transactions result in 50 percent more negative feedback than electronic transactions.
ProPay provides its ProPay eAuction Account for eBay Silver power sellers and higher. The service will be available in late October. The service costs $24 annually, with a $24 rebate processing credit offered to sellers who process $3,000 or more with ProPay during their first 6 months after signing.
ProPay also plans to unveil the eAuction Pro Account for eBay Silver power sellers and higher who sell on eBay and need additional, specialized services for processing credit and debit cards in face-to-face and other situations. This service will give processing options such as online virtual terminal, touch-tone phone processing, e-mail invoice direct Application Programming Interface (API) integration, and secure card reader.
ProPay services are fully integrated into eBay checkout process. Because of this feature, customers do not have to provide banking information or log into or sign up for ProPay accounts. They can carry out the transaction by simply entering the credit or debit card information. In this manner, the checkout process becomes quicker and convenient. This method will encourage buyers to use their credit cards for most of the transactions. They are more secure and earn rewards to buyers.
