Fluffy Spider Technologies, or “FST,” a provider of FancyPants user interface, or 'UI,' technology for consumer electronics, has reportedly announced that its FancyPants 3.0 will support the Google Android ( News - Alert) platform.
FancyPants 3.0 is a multimedia applications framework developed by the company, which enables the OEMs of Android-based devices and their channel partners to offer enhanced user experience to the customers.
With the new solution, the company aims at addressing the wide market of mainstream Android mobile development, and applications beyond mobile in Digital Video such as STB, DVR, Home Media Center; Office Automation such as printers and Multifunction Peripherals or ‘MFPs’; and other consumer electronics and industrial automation areas as well.
According to reports, Android, the Google ( News - Alert) mobile platform is being globally adopted at a rapid rate, which eventually led the company to offer support to the platform in FancyPants 3.0. A number of OEMs launched dozens of devices upon the Android platform in the year 2009, and the Android Market or the applications store for supporting devices grew vastly to offer over 20,000 applications.
As the deployment of the platform is being expected to grow extensively in the year 2010, developers are working hard at offering customized offerings through Android based devices. FancyPants enables them customize Android without forking the platform, offering rich graphics and multimedia capabilities.
According to Robi Karp, CEO, Fluffy Spider Technologies, FancyPants 3.0 enables device and application developers to add value to Android without fragmenting this growing market. Karp continued that the application framework is unique and empowers multiple ecosystems, from mobile wireless to consumer electronics and beyond.
The autonomous user interface of FancyPants 3.0 lets OEMs and their partners build differentiated Android-based products and product lines, supporting code re-use and in-channel branding of devices, applications and services, added Karp.
In the words of Art Swift, Vice President of Marketing, MIPS Technologies ( News - Alert), as his company works closely with companies in its ecosystem to provide MIPS licensees and their customers with the fastest time to market for their products running Android, it is pleased to work with Fluffy Spider to offer the licensees a straightforward path to building media-rich user interfaces and applications. Swift ( News - Alert) noted that Fluffy Spider's FancyPants product has the potential to help MIPS Technologies’ customers build devices that stand out in today's dynamic marketplace.
Recently, Fluffy Spider Technologies had reportedly announced the release of FancyPants 3.0, commenting that this new version of the company's multimedia applications framework augments the rich graphics and multimedia UI capabilities of FancyPants by de-coupling user interfaces from the applications that use them.
