Gartner Inc. positions Verizon Business in the Leaders Quadrant

Industry analyst firm Gartner (News - Alert) Inc. has positioned Verizon Business -- a communications and IT solutions provider -- in the Leaders Quadrant in a new report, Magic Quadrant for Global Network Service Providers.
The global network service provider market remains highly competitive, with new entrants and little evidence of consolidation, as well as strong competition from regional sourcing options. This is good news for enterprises, because when combined with competitive purchasing strategies, it ensures continued downward pressure on pricing and the opportunity to gain more favorable commercial terms.
“We believe our strong track record for delivering global managed services and IP-based business applications sets us apart from the pack,” stated Anthony Recine, vice president of network and communications solutions for Verizon Business (News - Alert). “Our network is the essential platform for our ever-broadening array of managed services, including offerings in areas such as infrastructure utility, security, managed mobility and application assurance.”
The report by Gartner says that leaders positioned in the Leaders quadrant have a full portfolio of voice and data products, coupled with above-average service and support, wide global coverage, and competitive pricing. They have a strong vision that includes adopting more information and communication technology (ICT) capabilities, which is a strategy they articulate clearly and openly.
The report also said “This Magic Quadrant assesses suppliers that can deliver fixed corporate networking services worldwide. Services to be provided include wide area network (WAN) services, predominantly managed, including MPLS and IPsec VPNs and Ethernet services, converged voice services, such as SIP trunking and managed IP telephony, and remote access services.”
Verizon Business also announced that it has also been positioned as a Leader in the, Magic Quadrant for Pan European Network Service Providers.
The Pan European network service provider (NSP) market remains crowded and fiercely competitive. The economic downturn has not led to a “flight to safety,” as seen in previous downturns, but to a “flight to value,” with enterprises seeking out good deals even if they come from less-well-known providers. This has ensured continued downward pressure on pricing for enterprises pursuing competitive procurement strategies, and the opportunity to gain more-favorable commercial terms.
