Mobile network operator Starhome (News - Alert) is providing a portfolio of roaming solutions reliant on Metaswitch’s IP Multimedia Subsystem (News - Alert) protocol software products to offer end users seamless movement from network to network.
“Being able to use a common IMS protocol infrastructure across a broad range of products and across multiple platforms was a huge win for us. Metaswitch’s IMS products are so widely deployed, and have such extensive interoperability exposure, that we could focus on maximizing our products’ roaming capabilities without worrying about connecting to other devices or services when we deployed,” said Shlomo Wolfman, Starhome’s COO.
Clive Partridge, general manager of Metaswitch’s Network Protocols Division said, 'Having the leading player in roaming solutions select our IMS products is a major vote of confidence. We are very happy to be working with Starhome on such leading edge products, and to be part of their roaming services evolution.”
Starhome is using Metaswitch’s DC-SIP protocol software product in its Mobile2IP solution, which enables seamless mobile communication on any IP device, and allows users to route incoming calls to their IP Soft Phone (News - Alert), GSM phone, or both, according to location and their preferences. Additionally, Starhome is using Metaswitch’s DC-Diameter protocol software product in its Roaming Control solution, which provides roamers with pricing packages and notifications regarding their tariffs and usage in real time.
Starhome is using Metaswitch’s DC-SIP protocol software product in its NG Service Broker Solution, which combines Starhome’s Intelligent Network (IN) expertise and the 3GPP standards for IMS into a core network element that allows seamless service orchestration of any existing or future IN/CAP/SIP/IMS services. Starhome is also taking advantage of Metaswitch’s flexible IMS protocol software architecture in various ongoing IMS research projects.
Metaswitch has developed portable network protocol source code based on its N-BASE portability technology for over 25 years. The company's industry leading IMS, MPLS, and IP Routing (unicast and multicast) solutions are architected to handle the scale and reliability requirements of the most demanding applications while providing extensibility and a full feature set.
The portability and feature richness of the N-BASE protocol products, plus superb engineering and exceptional support, provide communications suppliers with an unrivaled technical solution that reduces engineering cost and greatly improves time to market.
