Herzlia, Israel-based wireless HDTV semiconductor provider AMIMON has announced that it has crossed the half a million unit milestone in chipset sales and orders.

AMIMON has said there has been an upsurge in demand for its wireless 1080p Wireless Home Digital Interface, or "WHDI," chipset. The company has recorded strong sales in the first quarter and has a range of new WHDI products lined up for release. The company is all set to surpass one million chipset sales by the end of this year.

The company has been shipping its chipsets to CE manufacturers selling products powered by AMIMON's technology. These products include: wireless HDTVs, PC-to-TV wireless adapters, video accessories - dongles, HD video switches - medical device equipment, Pro-AV video cameras, etc. The chief markets for these products include the US, Europe, China and Japan. AMIMON boasts a wide customer base including big names such as ASUS, Brite-View, Gefen (News - Alert), Haier, Hisense, IDX, LG, Mitsubishi, Philips, Sharp, SONY, Stryker and Zinwell.

"AMIMON is the clear market leader in the wireless HDTV space; 9 out of 10 wireless HDTV systems in the market use AMIMON's chipsets," said Dr. Yoav Nissan-Cohen, AMIMON's Chairman and CEO. "In addition to continued success in the wireless HDTV market, a plethora of AMIMON-based wireless PC-to-TV products are hitting the market. AMIMON will continue to dominate the market and this is reinforced by our current backlog and new design wins."

AMIMON's 2nd generation chipset constitute majority of its sales.
