What Sprint is Cooking Up in its Secret 4G Lair

Sprint (News - Alert) has a pretty cool lair.

Okay, so technically it is not secret and it is not a 'Live Demonstration Room,' - but 'lair' has a more impressive connotation.
What you first see when you walk in to the lair-slash-demonstration-room is a whole lot of windows and light, with product demos ringing the parameter. Lately, most of these demos seem to be centered around Sprint's 4G network.

The Samsung Epic and the HTC (News - Alert) EVO were in attendance and both are impressive devices in their own right, but there were other gadgets around as well.
I got to play with an MVR 1000, that has both 3G and 4G cards for the purpose of load balancing, a Motorola (News - Alert) 4G desktop modem and an Airlink Raven, which will be coming out in 4G.
But one of my favorite tech items of the day was the 4G 'streaming' security camera. It activates on motion and displays footage that appears streaming over a 4G network -- even though it is livecast. This is one of those things that needs to be seen to be believed.

It's no secret around the office that I fancy fast German cars. So it should come as no surprise that another favorite of the day was a BMW kiosk. The only relic in the room from the 3G days, BMW commissioned the kiosk for the purpose of advertising. It runs on Sprint's network and is a stand alone resource allowing interested parties to look up BMW specs, build their own bimmer and also take customer information (a wonderful lead generating tool).

All in all it was a great day and I'm glad I had the chance to be one of the lucky few who got to explore.
